1000 Facts on Horses (non-fiction)

Bibliographic Information:
1000 Facts on Horses. (2004). Miles Kelly Ltd. ISBN: 0760760845

Book Awards:
None

Plot Summary:
This book contains facts about horses, with high quality photographs and illustrations. Different aspects such as care, feeding, health, riding, competing, breeding, color, confirmation, breeds, history, and training are all covered with equal depth.

Critical Evaluation:
This book is a very user friendly overview of the complex world of horses. Each two page spread is its own topic, and they are loosely organized into sections (designated by icons). Obviously, it is not designed to provide depth on any topic, but as an introduction to horses, a fun read, or a quick reference, it is an excellent tool. Horse crazy girls will find ample examples of others of their kind in the photographs, but there are no pictures of horse crazy boys! There are a few images of adult men riding as professionals, but it is obvious that the book is mostly geared towards girls.

Reader's Annotation:
A little bit about every aspect of horses.
